#Event2024 #IndustryEngagement I 👉 EMBRC’s Technology Webinar : Sustainable Aquaculture 🙏 Thanks to everyone who attended our recent aquaculture webinar and thank you to Vincent Vermeylen (an EMBRC Belgium researcher at the Lab of Aquaculture and Artemia Reference Center in the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering UGent, Universiteit Gent) for his valuable insights. 👉 We’ve learned about how ARC is encompassing sustainable aquaculture practices in its lab work, from low-trophic aquaculture and wind farms in the North Sea, to land-based multi-species hatcheries, and the impact of alternative feed ingredients on shrimp performance. Thanks also to our Industrial Liaison Officer Mery Piña for moderating the session. #EVENT24 | EMBRC, through the EU MARCO-BOLO project, is involved in the #BIOSPACE25 conference organised by European Space Agency - ESA and other key EU and international partners 🛰️ BIOSPACE25 is the first international conference dedicated to Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) applications for biodiversity from terrestrial, freshwater, coastal to marine ecosystems. This event will bring together an interdisciplinary community of experts in biodiversity including conservation specialists in satellite remote sensing, biodiversity scientists, ecologists, biodiversity monitoring specialists, data providers as well as policy stakeholders from governments, international organisations and NGOs. #EUproject | The new Data Analysis Challenge from EMBRC’s EU Horizon MARCO-BOLO project is now live. The challenge aims to compare different bioinformatics pipelines for eDNA analysis across the eDNA community. The researchers who have joined: ➡ Want their pipeline to be included in the MARCO-BOLO comparison ➡ Are interested to see how their pipeline performs on new data ➡ Want to contribute to better guidelines on pipeline choice ➡ Want to help create improved workflows for biodiversity monitoring Those taking part are helping to improve recommendations for eDNA metabarcoding pipeline choice and contributing towards the development of indicator workflows to report on biodiversity monitoring. This event, organised by the World Aquaculture Society and the European Aquaculture Society, will highlight the latest research and innovation that can help this sector continue to grow. ➡️ During the Innovation Forum (Wednesday, 2.55pm) Mery will present how EMBRC can support researchers, including the transnational access to free services it offers through eligible projects. This session is organised by EATIP, the European Commission and European Aquaculture Society. ➡️ In this presentation, she’ll also share how EMBRC can help scientists accelerate their research and development by facilitating free access to a range of services, resources, technology and expertise. ➡️ Mery will also join Konstantinos Tzakris (Planktonic AS), #MartyKulma (Czech University of Life Sciences Prague), and Georgina Blizzard (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences) in a roundtable to discuss the role of research infrastructures, how they can add value for industry and boost innovation, and what the future might look like for RIs.
