Happy Conflict Resolution Day! Today, we celebrate the transformative power of peaceful conflict resolution in fostering harmonious and equitable communities. The AAA-ICDR is proud to highlight the Western Justice Center (WJC), a recipient of an AAA-ICDR Foundation grant for its conflict resolution education initiative with the El Monte City School District in Los Angeles County. With the help of the Foundation’s grant, WJC is bringing conflict resolution and restorative justice tools to 40 schools, positively impacting 25,000 students annually. This initiative promotes a culture of understanding, collaboration and lasting peace within our educational environments. In 2023, 4,492 new construction cases were filed with the AAA-ICDR. For cases that AAA-ICDR closed in 2023, 36% settled before incurring any arbitration compensation. Our efficiency in resolving these disputes stands out: Median time to award in 2023: - 5.4 months for claims up to $100k - 11.3 months for claims between $100k-$999k - 21.1 months for claims of $1 million and above These times are significantly faster than the 35.6 months typical in U.S. District Courts.
