MARS is a leading conflict resolution non-profit in Anoka County, MN. MARS primarily focuses on providing the space and resources for conflict to be addressed constructively allowing those in conflict to cultivate resolution and agreement, as well as develop understanding and connection. MARS works to decrease feelings of stress, anger, resentment, and animosity between parties in conflict. As a result, more peaceful, collaborative, and safter communities are built in our area.

In this training, participants will gain a foundational understanding of the history of restorative practices, the elements that encompass the ideology, and the ways it can be used to benefit organizations, groups, and society.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Define restorative practices
Recognize the difference between traditional (retributive) versus restorative discipline
Identify their values as it pertains to justice and discipline
Understand how Native American roots ground these practices
Name the benefits of a restorative system
Understand how these practices are already at work in their community
Minimum of 6 participants�is needed to host the training-�cancellation will be determined 7 days prior if not enough sign ups.
In this training participants will learn the foundational elements of circle-keeping, learn the structure and importance of pre-sessions, and gain resources and skills to hold their own circle or restorative chat.
Participants will review the foundation of Restorative Practices, their indigenous roots, and discuss the significance and benefits of circle keeping to reduce conflict and resolve harm that has been caused.
By the end of this training participants will be able to :
Name the elements important to the circle process
Understand how circles are used in society
Gain skills to facilitate a pre-session, circle, and a restorative chat
Be able to facilitate circles on their own
Each participant will receive a certificate of completion at the end of training.
Community Mediation Minnesota will be offering an Online 30-Hour Civil Mediation Skills Training at the beginning 2024. An Online 40-Hour Family Mediation Skills Training will be available Fall 2024.
