We describe a stochastic evolution of a quantum system interacting with a light prepared in a continuous-mode two-photon state. The problem of a conditional evolution of the quantum system, depending on the results of the measurement of the output field, is formulated and solved making use of the model of repeated interactions. We define the discrete in-time interaction between the quantum system and its environment being the electromagnetic field approximated by a chain of harmonic oscillators. We determine analytical formulae for quantum trajectories associated with one-dimensional and two-dimensional counting processes, corresponding respectively to unidirectional or bidirectional input field prepared in the two-photon state. Moreover, we determine the formulae for the exclusive probability densities of photon counts that allow us to completely characterize the photon statistics of the output field. Finally, we show how to apply the quantum trajectories to obtain the formula for the probability of the two-photon absorption for a three-level atom in a ladder configuration. The paper also includes a discussion on the optimal two-photon state that maximizes the two-photon absorption probability.

Boron nitride exhibits diverse crystal structures, predominantly a layered arrangement with strong intraplanar covalent bonds and weak interplanar van der Waals bonds. While commonly referred to as hexagonal BN (hBN), the sp$^2$-bonded BN atomic planes can also arrange in other configurations like Bernal (bBN) or rhombohedral (rBN) stacking orders. Variations in the orientation and translation of successive atomic layers lead to changes in crystal symmetry, potentially resulting in piezoelectric, pyroelectric or ferroelectric effects. However, distinguishing between different polytypes using conventional methods like X-ray diffraction or Raman spectroscopy presents a significant challenge. In this work, we demonstrate that the optical response of the 4.1 eV defect can serve as an indicator of the polytype. To this end, we study BN samples grown by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE), which contain different polytypes. The identification of the polytypes was achieved by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence measurements with a high spatial resolution allowed for the deconvolution of the signal into two components from which we can extract a zero-phonon line (ZPL) at 4.096 eV (302.6 nm) for hBN and 4.143 eV (299.2 nm) for rBN. We performed calculations that enable us to identify the defect as a carbon dimer CBCN (C2) and show that the ZPL shift reflects differences in the crystal environment for different polytypes. Furthermore, we demonstrate that different polytypic composition ratios of hBN and rBN can be achieved by MOVPE, which could pave the way for future applications in large-area van der Waals heterostructures.

The versatile range of applications for two-dimensional (2D) materials has encouraged scientists to further engineer the properties of these materials. This is often accomplished by stacking layered materials into more complex van der Waals heterostructures. A much less popular but technologically promising approach is the alloying of 2D materials with different element compositions. In this work, we demonstrate a first step in manipulating the hBN bandgap in terms of its width and indirect/direct character of the optical transitions. We present a set of aluminum alloyed hexagonal boron nitride (hBAlN) samples that were grown by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) on 2-inch sapphire substrates with different aluminum concentration. Importantly, the obtained samples revealed a sp$^2$-bonded crystal structure. Optical absorption experiments disclosed two strong peaks in the excitonic spectral range with absorption coefficient $α\sim 10^6$ cm$^{-1}$. Their energies correspond very well with the energies of indirect and direct bandgap transitions in hBN. However, they are slightly redshifted. This observation is in agreement with predictions that alloying with Al leads to a decrease of the bandgap energy. The observation of two absorption peaks can be explained in terms of mixing electronic states in the K and M conduction band valleys, which leads to a significant enhancement of the absorption coefficient for indirect transitions.

We determine filtering and master equations for a quantum system interacting with wave packet of light in a continuous-mode squeezed number state. We formulate the problem of conditional evolution of a quantum system making use of model of repeated interactions and measurements. In this approach the quantum system undergoes a sequence of interactions with an environment defined by a chain of harmonic oscillators. We assume that the environment is prepared in an entangled state being a discrete analogue of a continuous-mode number state. We present a derivation of a discrete stochastic dynamics that depends on the results of measurement performed on the field after its interaction with the system. In this paper we consider a photon counting measurement scheme. By taking a continuous time limit, we finally obtain differential stochastic equations for the system. Analytical formulae for quantum trajectories and exclusive probability densities that allow to fully characterize the statistics of photons in the output field are given.

Hydrogen is an important building block in global strategies towards a future green energy system. To make this transition possible, intense scientific efforts are needed, also in the field of materials science. Two-dimensional crystals, such as hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), are very promising in this regard, as it was demonstrated that micrometer-sized exfoliated flakes are excellent barriers to molecular hydrogen. However, it remains an open question whether large-area layers fabricated by industrially relevant methods preserve such promising properties. In this work we show that electron beam-induced splitting of water creates hBN bubbles that effectively store molecular hydrogen for weeks and under extreme mechanical deformation. We demonstrate that epitaxial hBN allows direct visualization and monitoring of the process of hydrogen generation by radiolysis of interfacial water. Our findings show that hBN is not only a potential candidate for hydrogen storage, but also holds promise for the development of unconventional hydrogen production schemes.

The recent progress in the growth of large-area boron nitride epilayers opens up new possibilities for future applications. However, it remains largely unclear how weakly attached two-dimensional BN layers interact with their substrate and how their properties are influenced by defects. In this work, we investigate hBN layers grown by Metal Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE) using Fourier-transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in the temperature range of 160-540 K. Our measurements reveal strong differences in the character of layer-substrate interaction for as-grown and delaminated epitaxial layers. A much weaker interaction of as-grown layers is explained by wrinkles formation that reduces strain at the layer-substrate interface, which for layers transferred to other substrates occurs only in a limited temperature range. The most striking result is the observation of a giant increase in the $E_{1u}$ phonon energy of up to $\sim6$ cm$^{-1}$ in a narrow temperature range. We show that the amplitude and temperature range of the anomaly is strongly modified by UV light illumination. The observed giant effect is explained in terms of strain generation resulting from charge redistribution between shallow traps and different defects, which can be interpreted as a result of strong electron-phonon coupling in hBN. The observed narrow temperature range of the anomaly indicates that the effect may be further enhanced for example by electrostrictive effects, expected for sp$^2$ boron nitride.

We determine the exclusive probability densities for the output field by making use of quantum filtering theory. The quantum trajectories for continuous in time measurements of the output field (reflected and transmitted), are determined starting from a collision model and difference filtering equations. We provide analytical formulae for quantum trajectories associated with a two-dimensional stochastic counting process, we describe their structure, and give a physical interpretation to them. Moreover, we provide analytical expressions for probability densities for the times of successive photon detections for a single-photon field scattered on a two-level atom, for an arbitrary photon profile and any initial state of the atom.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are materials that can exhibit intriguing optical properties like a change of the bandgap from indirect to direct when being thinned down to a monolayer. Well-resolved narrow excitonic resonances can be observed for such monolayers, however only for materials of sufficient crystalline quality, so far mostly available in the form of micrometer-sized flakes. A further significant improvement of optical and electrical properties can be achieved by transferring the TMD on hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). To exploit the full potential of TMDs in future applications, epitaxial techniques have to be developed that not only allow to growlarge-scale, high-quality TMD monolayers, but allow to perform the growth directly on large-scale epitaxial hBN. In this work we address this problem and demonstrate that MoSe2 of high optical quality can be directly grown on epitaxial hBN on an entire two-inch wafer. We developed a combined growth theme for which hBN is first synthesized at high temperature by Metal Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE) and as a second step MoSe2 is deposited on top by Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) at much lower temperatures. We show that this structure exhibits excellent optical properties, manifested by narrow excitonic lines in the photoluminescence spectra. Moreover, the material is homogeneous on the area of the whole two-inch wafer, with only +/-0.14 meV deviation of excitonic energy. Our mixed growth technique may guide the way for future large-scale production of high quality TMD/hBN heterostructures.

An evolution of a two-level system (qubit) interacting with a single-photon wave packet is analyzed. It is shown that a hierarchy of master equations gives rise to phase covariant qubit evolution. The temporal correlations in the input field induce nontrivial memory effects for the evolution of a qubit. It is shown that in the resonant case whenever time-local generator is regular (does not display singularities) the qubit evolution never displays information backflow. However, in general the generator might be highly singular leading to intricate non-Markovian effects. A detailed analysis of the exponential profile is provided which allows to illustrate all characteristic feature of the qubit evolution.

We report measurements of the flux-integrated $\barν_μ$ and $\barν_μ+ν_μ$ charged-current cross-sections on water and hydrocarbon targets using the T2K anti-neutrino beam, with a mean neutrino energy of 0.86 GeV. The signal is defined as the (anti-)neutrino charged-current interaction with one induced $μ^\pm$ and no detected charged pion nor proton. These measurements are performed using a new WAGASCI module recently added to the T2K setup in combination with the INGRID Proton module. The phase space of muons is restricted to the high-detection efficiency region, $p_μ>400~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $θ_μ<30^{\circ}$, in the laboratory frame. Absence of pions and protons in the detectable phase space of "$p_π>200~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $θ_π<70^{\circ}$", and "$p_{\rm p}>600~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $θ_{\rm p}<70^{\circ}$" is required. In this paper, both of the $\barν_μ$ cross-sections and $\barν_μ+ν_μ$ cross-sections on water and hydrocarbon targets, and their ratios are provided by using D'Agostini unfolding method. The results of the integrated $\barν_μ$ cross-section measurements over this phase space are $σ_{\rm H_{2}O}\,=\,(1.082\pm0.068(\rm stat.)^{+0.145}_{-0.128}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, $σ_{\rm CH}\,=\,(1.096\pm0.054(\rm stat.)^{+0.132}_{-0.117}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, and $σ_{\rm H_{2}O}/σ_{\rm CH} = 0.987\pm0.078(\rm stat.)^{+0.093}_{-0.090}(\rm syst.)$. The $\barν_μ+ν_μ$ cross-section is $σ_{\rm H_{2}O} = (1.155\pm0.064(\rm stat.)^{+0.148}_{-0.129}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, $σ_{\rm CH}\,=\,(1.159\pm0.049(\rm stat.)^{+0.129}_{-0.115}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, and $σ_{\rm H_{2}O}/σ_{\rm CH}\,=\,0.996\pm0.069(\rm stat.)^{+0.083}_{-0.078}(\rm syst.)$.

This paper reports the first simultaneous measurement of the double differential muon neutrino charged-current cross section on oxygen and carbon without pions in the final state as a function of the outgoing muon kinematics, made at the ND280 off-axis near detector of the T2K experiment. The ratio of the oxygen and carbon cross sections is also provided to help validate various models' ability to extrapolate between carbon and oxygen nuclear targets, as is required in T2K oscillation analyses. The data are taken using a neutrino beam with an energy spectrum peaked at 0.6 GeV. The extracted measurement is compared with the prediction from different Monte Carlo neutrino-nucleus interaction event generators, showing particular model separation for very forward-going muons. Overall, of the models tested, the result is best described using Local Fermi Gas descriptions of the nuclear ground state with RPA suppression.

The accumulation of positive ions, produced by ionizing particles crossing Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LAr-TPCs), may generate distortions of the electric drift field affecting the track reconstruction of the ionizing events. These effects could become relevant for large LAr-TPCs operating at surface or at shallow depth, where the detectors are exposed to a copious flux of cosmic rays. A detailed study of such possible field distortions in the ICARUS T600 LAr-TPC has been performed analyzing a sample of cosmic muon tracks recorded with one T600 module operated at surface in 2001. The maximum track distortion turns out to be of few mm in good agreement with the prediction by a numerical calculation. As a cross-check, the same analysis has been performed on a cosmic muon sample recorded during the ICARUS T600 run at the LNGS underground laboratory, where the cosmic ray flux was suppressed by a factor $\sim 10^6$ by 3400 m water equivalent shielding. No appreciable distortion has been observed, confirming that the effects measured on surface are actually due to ion space charge.

T2K observes 15 candidate electron antineutrino events with a background expectation of 9.3 events. Neutrino- and antineutrino-oxygen neutral-current quasielastic-like interactions are measured at Super-Kamiokande using nuclear de-excitation $γ$-rays to identify signal-like interactions in data from a $14.94 \ (16.35)\times 10^{20}$ protons-on-target exposure of the T2K neutrino (antineutrino) beam. The measured flux-averaged cross sections on oxygen nuclei are $\langle σ_{ν{\rm -NCQE}} \rangle = 1.70 \pm 0.17 ({\rm stat.}) ^{+ {\rm 0.51}}_{- {\rm 0.38}} ({\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-38} \ {\rm cm^2/oxygen}$ with a flux-averaged energy of 0.82 GeV and $\langle σ_{\barν {\rm -NCQE}} \rangle = 0.98 \pm 0.16 ({\rm stat.}) ^{+ {\rm 0.26}}_{- {\rm 0.19}} ({\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-38} \ {\rm cm^2/oxygen}$ with a flux-averaged energy of 0.68 GeV, for neutrinos and antineutrinos, respectively. These results are the most precise to date, and the antineutrino result is the first cross section measurement of this channel. They are compared with various theoretical predictions. The impact on evaluation of backgrounds to searches for supernova relic neutrinos at present and future water Cherenkov detectors is also discussed.

The current laws of physics do not explain the observed imbalance of matter and antimatter in the universe. Sakharov proposed that an explanation would require the violation of CP symmetry between matter and antimatter. The only CP violation observed so far is in the weak interactions of quarks, and it is too small to explain the matter-antimatter imbalance of the universe. It has been shown that CP violation in the lepton sector could generate the matter-antimatter disparity through the process called leptogenesis. The quantum mixing of neutrinos, the neutral leptons in the Standard Model, provides a potential source of CP violation through a complex phase dCP, which may have consequences for theoretical models of leptogenesis. This CP violation can be measured in muon neutrino to electron neutrino oscillations and the corresponding antineutrino oscillations, which are experimentally accessible with accelerator-produced beams as established by the T2K experiment. Until now, the value of dCP has not been significantly constrained by neutrino oscillation experiments. Here the T2K collaboration reports a measurement that favors large enhancement of the neutrino oscillation probability, excluding values of dCP which result in a large enhancement of the observed anti-neutrino oscillation probability at three standard deviations (3 sigma). The 3 sigma confidence level interval for dCP, which is cyclic and repeats every 2pi, is [-3.41,-0.03] for the so-called normal mass ordering, and [-2.54,-0.32] for the inverted mass ordering. Our results show an indication of CP violation in the lepton sector. Herein we establish methods for sensitive searches for matter-antimatter asymmetry in neutrino oscillations using accelerator-produced neutrino beams. Future measurements with larger data samples will determine whether the leptonic CP violation is larger than the quark sector CP violation.

We report the measurements of single and double differential cross section of muon neutrino charged-current interactions on carbon with a single positively charged pion in the final state at the T2K off-axis near detector using $5.56\times10^{20}$ protons on target. The analysis uses data control samples for the background subtraction and the cross section signal, defined as a single negatively charged muon and a single positively charged pion exiting from the target nucleus, is extracted using an unfolding method. The model dependent cross section, integrated over the T2K off-axis neutrino beam spectrum peaking at $0.6$~GeV, is measured to be $σ= (11.76 \pm 0.44 \text{(stat)} \pm 2.39 \text{(syst)}) \times 10^{-40} \text{cm}^2$~$\text{nucleon}^{-1}$. Various differential cross sections are measured, including the first measurement of the Adler angles for single charged pion production in neutrino interactions with heavy nuclei target.

A first prototype of resistive MicroMegas has been designed, built, installed in the HARP field cage, and exposed to a beam of charged particles at CERN. The data have been used to characterize the performances of the resistive MicroMegas module. A spatial resolution of 300 $μm$ and a deposited energy resolution of 9% were observed for horizontal electrons crossing the TPCs at 30 cm from the anode. Such performances fully satisfy the requirements for the upgrade of the ND280 TPC.

Hexagonal boron nitride is a promising material for many applications ranging from deep UV emission to an ideal substrate for other two dimensional crystals. Although efforts towards the growth of wafer-scale, high quality material strongly increased in recent years, the understanding of the actual growth mechanism still remains fragmentary and premature. Here, we unveil fundamental growth mechanisms by investigating the growth of hBN by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) in a wide range of growth conditions. The obtained results contradict the widespread opinion about the importance of parasitic gas-phase reactions decreasing the growth efficiency. Two different growth mechanisms that depend on ammonia flow and reactor pressure can be distinguished. Both mechanisms are effective in the case of polycrystalline growth, but the growth of highly ordered, flat layers, is strongly hindered. The problem is caused by a low efficiency of boron chemisorption on N-terminated edges of sp2-BN sheets forming the atomic steps on the surface of the layer. Two-dimensional growth can be activated and sustained by the flow modulation epitaxy (FME) method, an alternate switching of ammonia and TEB flows. The success of the FME method is explained in terms of periodic changes between N- and B-terminated reconstructions at the edges of sp2- BN sheets, which restore boron chemisorption. The presented results identify the fundamental growth mechanisms, which is the prerequisite for any further deterministic development of efficient, high-quality, large-scale hBN growth with MOVPE.

This paper reports on the search for heavy neutrinos with masses in the range $140 < M_N < 493$ MeV/c$^2$ using the off-axis near detector ND280 of the T2K experiment. These particles can be produced from kaon decays in the standard neutrino beam and then subsequently decay in ND280. The decay modes under consideration are $N \to \ell^{\pm}_α π^{\mp}$ and $N \to \ell^+_α \ell^-_β ν(\barν)$ ($α,β=e,μ$). A search for such events has been made using the Time Projection Chambers of ND280, where the background has been reduced to less than two events in the current dataset in all channels. No excess has been observed in the signal region. A combined Bayesian statistical approach has been applied to extract upper limits on the mixing elements of heavy neutrinos to electron-, muon- and tau- flavoured currents ($U_e^2$, $U_μ^2$, $U_τ^2$) as a function of the heavy neutrino mass, e.g. $U_e^2 < 10^{-9}$ at $90\%$ C.L. for a mass of $390$ MeV/c$^2$. These constraints are competitive with previous experiments.

Neutrino neutral-current induced single photon production is a sub-leading order process for accelerator-based neutrino beam experiments including T2K. It is, however, an important process to understand because it is a background for electron (anti)neutrino appearance oscillation experiments. Here, we performed the first search of this process below 1 GeV using the fine-grained detector at the T2K ND280 off-axis near detector. By reconstructing single photon kinematics from electron-positron pairs, we achieved 95\% pure gamma ray sample from 5.738$\times 10^{20}$ protons-on-targets neutrino mode data. We do not find positive evidence of neutral current induced single photon production in this sample. We set the model-dependent upper limit on the cross-section for this process, at 0.114$\times 10^{-38}$ cm$^2$ (90\% C.L.) per nucleon, using the J-PARC off-axis neutrino beam with an average energy of $\left<E_ν\right>\sim 0.6$ GeV. This is the first limit on this process below 1 GeV which is important for current and future oscillation experiments looking for electron neutrino appearance oscillation signals.

The goal of this upgrade is to improve the Near Detector performance to measure the neutrino interaction rate and to constrain the neutrino interaction cross-sections so that the uncertainty in the number of predicted events at Super-Kamiokande is reduced to about 4%. This will allow to improve the physics reach of the T2K-II project. This goal is achieved by modifying the upstream part of the detector, adding a new highly granular scintillator detector (Super-FGD), two new TPCs (High-Angle TPC) and six TOF planes. Details about the detector concepts, design and construction methods are presented, as well as a first look at the test-beam data taken in Summer 2018. We derive stochastic master equation for a quantum system interacting with an environment prepared in a continuous-mode $N$-photon state. To determine the conditional evolution of the quantum system depending on continuous in time measurements of the output field the model of repeated interactions and measurements is applied. The environment is defined as an infinite chain of harmonic oscillators which do not interact between themselves and they are prepared initially in an entangled state being a discrete analogue of a continuous-mode $N$-photon state. We provide not only the quantum trajectories but also the analytical formulae for the whole statistics of the output photons and the solution to the master equation. The solution in the continuous case is represented by a simple diagrammatic technique with very transparent "Feynmann rules". This technique considerably simplifies the structure of the solution and enables one to find physical interpretation for the solution in terms of a few elementary processes.

The best-fit values of other parameters are $\sin^2θ_{23} = 0.526^{+0.032}_{-0.036}$ and $Δm^2_{32}=2.463^{+0.071}_{-0.070}\times10^{-3} \mathrm{eV}^2/c^4$.

This analysis aims to study inclusive neutrino-induced Neutral Current (NC) interactions that produce at least one neutral pion ($π^0$) in the final state (incNC$π^0$ ) in the T2K off-axis near detector ND280. The motivation for this study is to better understand/eliminate the background to electron neutrino appearance analyzed at the far detector Super-Kamiokande. As $π^0$ decays are background to the appearance search, a good knowledge of both inclusive and exclusive neutrino interaction cross sections are key to improving associated systematic uncertainties in T2K oscillation analyses. Results from this study can be compared to a number of Monte Carlo samples produced using different neutrino interaction generators. This could yield information about models of neutrino-nucleon interactions. Further comparisons can be made with the incCC$π^0$ sample already obtained from a T2K near detector analysis. In this poster, the selection criteria used to collect inclusive neutral current neutrino interactions on plastic scintillator (CH) with at least one $π^0$ in the final state will be presented, including a discussion of how selection criteria were improved. I will also discuss the changes in the selections, including use of a fitting method to improve measurement of the incNC$π^0$ interaction rate.

This paper reports measurements of final-state proton multiplicity, muon and proton kinematics, and their correlations in charged-current pionless neutrino interactions, measured by the T2K ND280 near detector in its plastic scintillator (C$_8$H$_8$) target. The data were taken between years 2010 and 2013, corresponding to approximately 6$\times10^{20}$ protons on target. Thanks to their exploration of the proton kinematics and of kinematic imbalances between the proton and muon kinematics, the results offer a novel probe of the nuclear-medium effects most pertinent to the (sub-)GeV neutrino-nucleus interactions that are used in accelerator-based long-baseline neutrino oscillation measurements. These results are compared to many neutrino-nucleus interaction models which all fail to describe at least part of the observed phase space. In case of events without a proton above a detection threshold in the final state, a fully consistent implementation of the local Fermi gas model with multinucleon interactions gives the best description of the data. In the case of at least one proton in the final state the spectral function model agrees well with the data, most notably when measuring the kinematic imbalance between the muon and the proton in the plane transverse to the incoming neutrino. A clear indication of existence of multinucleon interactions is observed. The effect of final-state interactions is also discussed.

We derive stochastic master equations for a quantum system interacting with a Bose field prepared in a superposition of continuous-mode coherent states. To determine a conditional evolution of the quantum system we use a collision model with an environment given as an infinite chain of not interacting between themselves qubits prepared initially in a entangled state being a discrete analogue of a superposition of coherent states of the Bose field. The elements of the environment chain interact with the quantum system in turn one by one and they are subsequently measured. We determine a conditional evolution of the quantum system for continuous in time observations of the output field as a limit of discrete recurrence equations. We consider the stochastic master equations for a counting as well as for a diffusive stochastic process.

The T2K experiment reports an updated analysis of neutrino and antineutrino oscillations in appearance and disappearance channels. A sample of electron neutrino candidates at Super-Kamiokande in which a pion decay has been tagged is added to the four single-ring samples used in previous T2K oscillation analyses. Through combined analyses of these five samples, simultaneous measurements of four oscillation parameters, $|Δm^2_{32}|$, $\sin^2(θ_{23})$, $\sin^2(θ_{13})$, and $δ_{CP}$ and of the mass ordering are made. A set of studies of simulated data indicates that the sensitivity to the oscillation parameters is not limited by neutrino interaction model uncertainty. Multiple oscillation analyses are performed, and frequentist and Bayesian intervals are presented for combinations of the oscillation parameters with and without the inclusion of reactor constraints on $\sin^2(θ_{13})$. When combined with reactor measurements, the hypothesis of CP conservation ($δ_{CP}$$=0$ or $π$) is excluded at 90% confidence level. The 90% confidence region for $δ_{CP}$ is [-2.95,-0.44] ([-1.47, -1.27]) for normal (inverted) ordering. The central values and 68\% confidence intervals for the other oscillation parameters for normal (inverted) ordering are $Δm^{2}_{32}=2.54\pm0.08$ ($2.51\pm0.08$) $\times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2 / c^4$ and $\sin^2(θ_{23}) = 0.55^{+0.05}_{-0.09}$ ($0.55^{+0.05}_{-0.08}$), compatible with maximal mixing. In the Bayesian analysis, the data weakly prefer normal ordering (Bayes factor 3.7) and the upper octant for $\sin^2(θ_{23})$ (Bayes factor 2.4).

We derived quantum trajectories for a system interacting with the environment prepared in a continuous mode single photon state as the limit of discrete filtering model with an environment defined as series of independent qubits prepared initially in the entangled state being an analogue of a continuous mode state. The environment qubits interact with the quantum system and they are subsequently measured. The initial correlation between the bath qubits is the source of the non-Markovianity. The conditional evolutions of the quantum system for limit of the continuous in time observations together with the formulas for the photon counting probabilities are given.

The single $π^0$ production rate in neutral current neutrino interactions on water in a neutrino beam with a peak neutrino energy of 0.6 GeV has been measured using the PØD, one of the subdetectors of the T2K near detector. The production rate was measured for data taking periods when the PØD contained water ($2.64\times{}10^{20}$ protons-on-target) and also periods without water ($3.49 \times 10^{20}$ protons-on-target). A measurement of the neutral current single $π^0$ production rate on water is made using appropriate subtraction of the production rate with water in from the rate with water out of the target region. The subtraction analysis yields 106 $\pm$ 41 (stat.) $\pm$ 69 (sys.) signal events, which is consistent with the prediction of 157 events from the nominal simulation. The measured to expected ratio is 0.68 $\pm$ 0.26 (stat.) $\pm$ 0.44 (sys.) $\pm$ 0.12 (flux). The nominal simulation uses a flux integrated cross section of $7.63\times{}10^{-39}$ cm${}^2$ per nucleon with an average neutrino interaction energy of 1.3 GeV.

A search for such modulations was performed using the T2K on-axis near detector. Two complementary methods were used in this study, both of which resulted in no evidence of a signal. Limits on associated Lorentz and CPT violating terms from the Standard Model Extension have been derived taking into account their correlations in this model for the first time. These results imply such symmetry violations are suppressed by a factor of more than $10^{20}$ at the GeV scale.

Recent measurements by the T2K neutrino oscillation experiment indicate that CP violation in neutrino mixing may be observed in the future by long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. We propose an extension to the currently approved T2K running from $7.8\times 10^{21}~\mbox{POT}$ to $20\times 10^{21}~\mbox{POT}$, aiming at initial observation of CP violation with 3$\,σ$ or higher significance for the case of maximum CP violation. The program also contains a measurement of mixing parameters, $θ_{23}$ and $Δm^2_{32}$, with a precision of 1.7$^\circ$ or better and 1%, respectively. With accelerator and beamline upgrades, as well as analysis improvements, this program would occur before the next generation of long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments that are expected to start operation in 2026.

The T2K off-axis near detector, ND280, is used to make the first differential cross section measurements of muon neutrino charged current single positive pion production on a water target at energies ${\sim}0.8$ GeV. The differential measurements are presented as a function of muon and pion kinematics, in the restricted phase-space defined by $p_{π^+}>200$MeV/c, $p_{μ^-}>200$MeV/c, $\cos θ_{π^+}>0.3$ and $\cos θ_{μ^-}>0.3$. The total flux integrated $ν_μ$ charged current single positive pion production cross section on water in the restricted phase-space is measured to be $\langleσ\rangle_φ=4.25\pm0.48 (\mathrm{stat})\pm1.56 (\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-40} \mathrm{cm}^{2}/\mathrm{nucleon}$. The total cross section is consistent with the NEUT prediction ($5.03\times10^{-40} \mathrm{cm}^{2}/\mathrm{nucleon}$) and 2$σ$ lower than the GENIE prediction ($7.68\times10^{-40} \mathrm{cm}^{2}/\mathrm{nucleon}$). The differential cross sections are in good agreement with the NEUT generator. The GENIE simulation reproduces well the shapes of the distributions, but over-estimates the overall cross section normalization.

We report the first measurement of the flux-averaged cross section for charged current coherent $π^{+}$ production on carbon for neutrino energies less than 1.5 GeV to a restricted final state phase space region in the T2K near detector, ND280. Comparisons are made with predictions from the Rein-Sehgal coherent production model and the model by Alvarez-Ruso {\it et al.}, the latter representing the first implementation of an instance of the new class of microscopic coherent models in a neutrino interaction Monte Carlo event generator. This results contradicts the null results reported by K2K and SciBooNE in a similar neutrino energy region.

We report the measurement of muon neutrino charged-current interactions on carbon without pions in the final state at the T2K beam energy using 5.734$\times10^{20}$ protons on target. For the first time the measurement is reported as a flux-integrated, double-differential cross-section in muon kinematic variables ($\cosθ_μ$, $p_μ$), without correcting for events where a pion is produced and then absorbed by final state interactions. Two analyses are performed with different selections, background evaluations and cross-section extraction methods to demonstrate the robustness of the results against biases due to model-dependent assumptions. The measurements compare favorably with recent models which include nucleon-nucleon correlations but, given the present precision, the measurement does not solve the degeneracy between different models. The data also agree with Monte Carlo simulations which use effective parameters that are tuned to external data to describe the nuclear effects. The total cross-section in the full phase space is $σ= (0.417 \pm 0.047 \text{(syst)} \pm 0.005 \text{(stat)})\times 10^{-38} \text{cm}^2$ $\text{nucleon}^{-1}$ and the cross-section integrated in the region of phase space with largest efficiency and best signal-over-background ratio ($\cosθ_μ>0.6$ and $p_μ> 200$ MeV) is $σ= (0.202 \pm 0.0359 \text{(syst)} \pm 0.0026 \text{(stat)}) \times 10^{-38} \text{cm}^2$ $\text{nucleon}^{-1}$.

T2K reports its first measurements of the parameters governing the disappearance of $\barν_μ$ in an off-axis beam due to flavor change induced by neutrino oscillations. The quasimonochromatic $\barν_μ$ beam, produced with a peak energy of 0.6 GeV at J-PARC, is observed at the far detector Super-Kamiokande, 295 km away, where the $\barν_μ$ survival probability is expected to be minimal. Using a dataset corresponding to $4.01 \times 10^{20}$ protons on target, $34$ fully contained $μ$-like events were observed. The best-fit oscillation parameters are $\sin^2 (\barθ_{23}) = 0.45$ and $|Δ\bar{m}^2_{32}| = 2.51 \times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ with 68% confidence intervals of 0.38 - 0.64 and 2.26 - 2.80 $\times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ respectively. These results are in agreement with existing antineutrino parameter measurements and also with the $ν_μ$ disappearance parameters measured by T2K.
