Description

Climbing on Jungfraubahn toward Jungfraujoch.

Jungfraubahn is in three sections: the first section to either Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen on conventional commuter trains, the second section to Kleine Scheidegg on narrow-gauge cogwheel trains, and the final climb through a tunnel that passes through Eiger and Mönch, again on a cogwheel train.

This is the legendary North Face of Eiger, the ultimate challenge for rock climbers. Eiger, or Ogre, is the easternmost of the three peaks here. I am about to enter its intestine (tunnel) to proceed through the middle mountain, Mönch, to the end of the line at Jungfraujoch.
