Merge?

does any one know how to writei letterman if so add on

Letter jacket (a stub, which BTW probably gets wrong what it takes to "letter in a sport") should be merged into Letterman.

Disambiguation

Anyone opposed to turning Letterman into a disambiguation page (here is an example) for further expansion? jmswtlk 00:01, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

From the point of view of someone who isn't American, and thus knows little to nothing about this phenomenon, I feel the presence of a picture may help. Crydwyn 17:00, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

LettermanLetterman (sports) — So that Letterman can redirect to David Letterman, who is clearly by any measure the primary topic for the term. David Letterman absolutely dominates the search results for "Letterman" and had 76,066 article views last month. Other articles on the dab page containing the word "Letterman" range from a paltry-by-comparison 159 to 1,385. The viewing pattern for Letterman (9,223 hits) mirrors that of David's article precisely.

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Weak support, I suppose, based more on my own hunch (that users who enter "Letterman" are more likely to be looking for the talk show host than the sports usage) than any statistical or other evidence that's been presented. The nominating editor is, for reasons unknown to me, borrowing much of my language and strategies from my requested moves at Talk:Leno (disambiguation) and Talk:Ebert, even though I've pointed out (in the "controversial move" discussion linked above) that the same arguments don't really apply to this case, where there is a primary topic. (Users who are looking for the sports usage won't ever view the dab page.) Propaniac (talk) 01:58, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
for reasons unknown to me — leave your weird accusations at the door, dude... Another user at the bottom of Talk:Ebert had drawn my attention to the Leno discussion, a move that was entirely coincidental that you initially had proposed nearly three months ago. Aside from a small bit of wording that was relevant, it was utterly inevitable that similar comparisons would have happened here, so lay off. Nevertheless, I have pointed out plenty of necessary reasons above why this similar move would also be plausible. ₪— CelticWonder (T·C) " 06:03, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose I think the dab page should be at the primary location, so renaming is fine, but redirection is not. 76.66.192.73 (talk) 06:47, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
