Derived by STEDT from Proto-Lolo-Burmese *ʔ-gʷəy² (comb), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *ʔ-gʷəy-s (comb (for hair)), and compared with Mizo [Term?] (khuih, comb). Note also more overt similarities to Old Chinese (OC *piː, *bis, “fine-tooth comb”).
