%X This report is a contribution of research in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning . We are interested in openness as a property of a Virtual Learning Environment. Openness in learning refers to a set of flexible, empowering courses whose main property is to offer learners freedom of choice so that they can exercise control over their training and learning. (Jézégou 2010)Our work aims to make openness explicit in IT environments and to propose architectures, models and services that make openness explicit in VLEs, and enable flexible courses to be proposed, allowing learners to exercise freedom of choice and control over their training and learning.An open VLE must be able to be mobilized by learners and aims to empower them. Fernagu defines an enabling environment as "an environment that enables individuals to develop their power to act" or "that puts them in a position to develop themselves". Our work also focuses on clarifying the empowering nature of an VLE and proposing solutions for empowering VLEs.
%X Ce mémoire d’Habilitation à diriger des recherches s’inscrit dans le développement des recherches au sein du domaine des Environnements Informatiques pour l’Apprentissage Humain. Nous nous intéressons à l’ouverture comme propriété d’un EIAH. L'ouverture en formation renvoie à un ensemble de dispositifs flexibles et autonomisants dont la principale propriété est d'offrir à l'apprenant des libertés de choix pour qu'il puisse exercer un contrôle sur sa formation et ses apprentissages. (Jézégou 2010)Nos travaux visent à expliciter l’ouverture dans les environnements informatiques et à proposer des architectures, des modèles, et des services qui permettent d’expliciter l’ouverture dans les EIAH, et permettent de proposer des dispositifs flexibles, permettant à l’apprenant d’exercer sa liberté de choix et de contrôler sa formation et ses apprentissages.Un EIAH ouvert doit pouvoir être mobilisé par les apprenants et vise augmenter leur pouvoir d’agir. Fernagu définit un environnement capacitant comme « un environnement permettant de développer le pouvoir d’agir des individus» ou « qui met en capacité de se développer~». Nos travaux portent également à expliciter le caractère capacitant d’un EIAH et à proposer des solutions permettant de rendre les EIAH capacitants.
