Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras earned his M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He currently serves as a Senior Researcher (Researcher A’) at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, Information Technologies Institute (CERTH/ITI). Since December 2020, he has held the positions of Director of the Central Directorate and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of CERTH. Before this role, he was the Director of the Information Technologies Institute of CERTH (CERTH/ITI) in October 2013. His primary research interests encompass visual analytics, 3-D object recognition, search and retrieval, behavioral biometrics, assistive technologies, information and knowledge management, multimodal interfaces, computer graphics, and virtual reality. Dr. Tzovaras has been involved in research since September 1999 and has participated in over 60 projects funded by the EC and the Greek Ministry of Research and Technology. His contributions to these research areas have resulted in co-authoring over 80 articles in refereed journals and more than 150 papers in international conferences. He is a member of EURASIP and has served as a regular reviewer for numerous international journals and conferences.
