Sebastian Maniscalco is headed to Hulu.
In what is considered a sizable coup for the platform, Manisculco’s latest hour will debut as part of Hulu’s new standup initiative, which will kick off next month under the headline “Hularious.” The special, which is not yet dated, is expected to tackle what Manisculco sees as the absurdities of modern life, from nonexistent manners and wallet-winced prices to the chaos of social media. It will be filmed during his top-selling “It Ain’t Right” tour.
“How many times do you catch yourself thinking, ‘It Ain’t Right’?” he said in a statement Thursday. “This special is my way of uniting us to laugh at the ridiculousness of the world around us, and I’m thrilled to share it with my fans. So, get your sweats on, pop yourself some popcorn, and get ready to laugh.”

Scott Glenn was so charmed by his “Eugene the Marine” co-star Jim Gaffigan that while filming a particularly wild fight scene, the 85-year-old modified a stunt so he didn’t accidentally kill the comedian.
“All that I was concerned with when we got to the end of this scene was making it physically as real as possible, but also as safe as possible,” Glenn says, during a Zoom conversation with Gaffigan for Variety. “For instance, I don’t know if Jim knows this, but at one point I put something called a ‘naked choke’ on him. I always made sure that my bicep was not really next to his carotid artery, because if you squeeze that thing wrong, you can very quickly halt blood going to the brain and hurt somebody permanently.”

Seth Meyers is still wringing drops out of Donald Trump’s appearance at the Al Smith dinner, noting that the former president was seated next to a high-ranking Catholic leader.
“Former president Trump spoke last week at the Al Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner and sat next to New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan,” Meyers began Tuesday night. “I’m not sure what they talked about but immediately afterwards Dolan moved Trump to another parish.”
It took a moment for the audience to get the joke but once the laughter started up Meyers laughed, “Remember?!”
Trump’s attendance at the dinner was definitely enjoyed by at least one person: comedian Jim Gaffigan. The roast host got off probably the best joke of the night by bringing up the former president’s comments during his only debate against Harris about cats and dogs being eaten.

Donald Trump had the spotlight all to himself at the Al Smith Dinner on Thursday, as he made made jokes about immigrants, transgender Americans and his political rivals at the event that is an election-year tradition.
Standing at the lectern, with Chuck Schumer next to him, Trump said that the Senate majority leader was “looking very glum. But look on the bright side Chuck. Considering how woke your party has become, if Kamala loses, you still have a chance to become the first woman president.”
Another one: “I used to think that Democrats were crazy for saying that men have periods. But then I met Tim Walz.”
Mispronouncing Harris’ first name again, Trump blasted Harris for not attending the dinner, where candidates of both major parties have, in the past, taken a break from the campaign trail for a night of levity.

Kamala Harris did not attend Thursday night’s Al Smith Dinner in New York, a traditional each election in which the presidential candidates roast each other and themselves.
Instead, Harris enlisted Molly Shannon to revive her Saturday Night Live character of Catholic school girl Mary Katherine Gallagher, a nod to the dinner benefit that raised money for the Al Smith Foundation. Smith was the first Catholic presidential nominee in 1928.
“Is there anything you don’t think I should bring up tonight?” Harris asked in the video.
“Well, don’t lie. Thou shall not bear false witness to thy neighbor,” said Shannon, as Gallagher.
“Well, indeed, especially thy neighbor’s election results,” Harris responded.
At another moment, Gallagher told Harris to not “say anything negative about Catholics.”
“I would never do that no matter where I was. That would be like criticizing Detroit, in Detroit,” said Harris, in another dig at Trump.

Disney dropped the official trailer for “An Almost Christmas Story,” the animated Yuletide short from director David Lowery (“Mother Mary”) and producer Alfonso Cuarón (“Disclaimer”), premiering November 15 on Disney+. The short is inspired by the true events of a tiny owl rescued from New York City’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 2020.
The trailer reveals Moon, a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. Moon befriends a lost girl named Luna in his attempts to escape the bustling city (including flying chases and dashing through the subway). Together, they embody the spirit of the holiday season and form an unlikely bond as they journey back home to their parents. (A screening and Q&a with Lowery and Cuarón will take place October 20 at the seventh annual Animation Is Film Festival at the Tcl Chinese Theatres in Hollywood).

Ariana Grande led “Saturday Night Live” to its highest ratings since Elon Musk hosted the show on May 8, 2021.
Grande’s Oct. 12 episode, with musical guest Stevie Nicks, drew 5.6 million viewers in live+same day viewing on NBC, per Nielsen data. That number does not account for delayed viewing, with that data becoming available at a later date.
The Grande show also became the most-watched “SNL” episode ever on Peacock across its first two days of viewing, Sunday and Monday, according to NBC.
Per NBC, Grande’s episode drew a “record-breaking” 516 million views across “SNL’s” social channels, with 415 million of those views attributed to in-show sketch and musical performance content. (“SNL” also uploads sketches online that were cut from the broadcast for time.)

Doug Emhoff weighed in on his various Saturday Night Live impersonators this week, answering the ultimate question: Martin Short or Andy Samberg?
“Martin Short is way older and shorter, but he actually got me,” Emhoff told Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson on the Politickin’ podcast. “Samberg — it’s good, it’s funny. It’s not quite me, but some of the lines are pretty good.”
Short played the Second Gentlemen for several sketches when Emhoff and his wife, Kamala Harris, entered the national conversation during the last presidential election in 2020. Samberg took on the role when SNL returned ahead of the November election this fall. In the interview this week, Emhoff added that Samberg “has the hair down,” and said the viral “Dougy” dance is funny, but perhaps not entirely accurate.
Emhoff went on to speak about his experience seeing himself depicted on the show, after growing up watching the sketches.

Jerry Seinfeld’s hit show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee served up plenty of laughs, but when asked why most of his guests were white, Seinfeld’s answer left everyone in awkward silence. In a moment that could only be described as a major yikes, Seinfeld gave a response so tone-deaf, it’s practically cringeworthy TV history.

With the whole world watching, he missed the mark, coming off as wildly uneducated on the matter of diversity. Instead of addressing the question thoughtfully, Seinfeld’s reply hit all the wrong notes, making him the center of a controversy he probably never saw coming. It was a moment that proved even the king of comedy could bomb—just not in the way anyone expected.

Season 50 of “Saturday Night Live” started strong with an exciting unveiling of new political impersonations from Andy Samberg, Jim Gaffigan, Dana Carvey, Bowen Yang, and others. An episode hosted by Nate Bargatze that proved the show is at its best when working off talent with a comedic background, but this week’s episode, hosted by Ariana Grande, proved that maintaining a hot streak after 50 seasons isn’t always possible. The episode started with a traditional political cold open that saw Vice President Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph) and former President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) face off in a game of Family Feud rather than a regular debate. Hosted by Steve Harvey (Kenan Thompson), Harris was joined by her husband, Doug Emhoff (Samberg), her VP pick Tim Walz (Gaffigan), and President Joe Biden (Carvey), while Trump reluctantly brought along his son, Donald Jr. (Mikey Day), and his running mate, Jd Vance...

“Saturday Night Live” brought the Democrats and Republicans into a hilarious game of “Family Feud,” hosted by Kenan Thompson’s Steve Harvey.
Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris, Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz, Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff and Dana Carvey’s Joe Biden went up against James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, Mikey Day’s Donald Trump Jr. and Bowen Yang’s J.D. Vance in the cold open.
Thompson asked for the contestants to name something they keep in their glove compartment, to which Rudolph answered with “a Glock” — making fun of Harris’ recent viral interview moment.
“Steve, look, I was raised in a middle-class family. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked hard and saved up, and we had a second mother, too.

“Saturday Night Live” packed in every political face it could on Saturday’s show as the cold open featured a game of “Family Feud” with Team Harris vs. Team Trump.
The game show setup allowed for Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris, Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz, Dana Carvey’s Joe Biden, James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, Bowen Yang’s Jd Vance and Mikey Day’s Donald Trump Jr. to all appear in the same sketch, and worked well enough.
The game was, of course, hosted by Kenan Thompson’s Steve Harvey, who kicked off the proceedings by introducing himself and saying he’s “spent the last 20 years hosting every show on TV.”
“I love to see a man getting paid millions of dollars for his Black job,” Rudolph’s Harris responded. She then continued by addressing Harris’ media blitz from the week prior: “I...

Saturday Night Live mocked Donald Trump’s refusal to do another debate and instead had him face off with Kamala Harris in Family Feud.
With Kenan Thompson as emcee Steve Harvey, the cold open brought back the election-season regulars: Maya Rudolph as Harris, joined by her “family” of Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz and Dana Carvey as Joe Biden. James Austin Johnson was joined by Mikey Day as Don Jr. and Bowen Yang as Jd Vance, with one spot missing for Melania Trump.
“It’s so strange. I could have sworn she was standing right beside me about two years ago,” Trump said, as Harvey introduced the team players.
As Trump and Harris faced off before the buzzers, the former president told Harvey, “I’m telling you Steve, she’s going to be very horrible at this game. She’s a low Iq person. The...

Presidential contenders Kamala Harris and Donald Trump settled their differences in classic TV fashion on this week’s Saturday Night Live — by going head-to-head on Family Feud!

While playing presidents and high-profile candidates on Saturday Night Live was once exclusively the domain of SNL cast members, in recent years, zeitgeist-y political roles have tended to go to a revolving door of A-list celebrities, including Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey and Robert De Niro. This trend has gone on for so long that it’s become the expected norm that newsworthy politicians will be played by celebrity ringers, as opposed to in-house talent.
But Lorne Michaels’ strategy has led to some hurt feelings. Darrell Hammond technically wasn’t a part of the cast when Donald Trump entered the political arena, but he was still kicking around Studio 8H in his capacity as announcer, and was tapped to reprise the role of Trump, who he’d already impersonated in previous seasons.

On “The View,” Kamala Harris gave a live reaction while watching Maya Rudolph impersonate her on “Saturday Night Live.”
The vice president watched in awe as Joy Behar threw to a clip of Rudolph from the Sept. 28 episode of “SNL,” in which Rudolph says, “I am so happy to be campaigning in whatever swing state I’m in, which I will just refer to as Wisconsi-Pensyl-Va-Georgia. Harris’ mouth widened at the punchline as the presidential hopeful clapped and laughed in glee. “Oh my God!” she said. “I hadn’t seen that!”

Saturday Night Live came this close to introducing a new (yet familiar) Donald Trump impersonator during its Sept. 28 premiere.
During a recent appearance at the Skankfest comedy festival in Las Vegas, Shane Gillis — the stand-up comedian who, just moments after being hired as a featured player in 2019, was fired from the show for his history of making racist and homophobic comments — said that he declined an offer from series boss Lorne Michaels to play the former president during the late-night sketch series’ milestone 50th season.

Saturday Night Live took on the 2024 vice-presidential debate, but instead of the usual political sparring, the candidates found themselves in an unexpectedly friendly exchange. SNL leaned into the humor, showcasing a surprising “bromance” between Jd Vance (Bowen Yang) and Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan).
The sketch began with Vance addressing a tough question about calling the former president “America’s Hitler.” When asked if he regretted it, he quipped, “Well, the context matters. I meant that as a compliment.”
Walz responded with genuine admiration: “Wow. This guy’s good. He’s got an answer for everything.”

Many people are saying it, they’re calling it the worst deal in “Saturday Night Live” history.
Comedian Shane Gillis claimed that the sketch comedy institution invited him to portray Donald Trump on the show this season, and he turned the offer down. Gold Derby has reached out to NBC for comment or confirmation.

Saturday Night Live apparently nearly had a new Donald Trump impersonator for its 50th season.
Shane Gillis claimed over the weekend that he was asked to play the former President of the United States for the entirety of Season 50 but turned it down.
At Skankfest, a comedy festival in Las Vegas, it emerged that Gillis, who did spoof Trump when he hosted SNL last season, was asked by Lorne Michaels to do it again.
“Nobody thought [Gillis] was coming to this festival this year,” podcaster Luis J. Gomez said.
“Explain why,” Gillis replied. “Because he was offered to play Trump on the entire season of SNL and he turned it down to f*cking be here, folks,” Gomez added. Gillis said, “They said, ‘Are you serious? You’re going to say no?’ I said, ‘Lorne, I’ve got to go to Coke Magic.’”

Dana Carvey is one of the revered cast members in Saturday Night Live history. He's considered to be the show's best impressionist, so it makes sense that boss Lorne Michaels would bring him back to play President Joe Biden in season 50.
Carvey was hilarious during the cold open for the season 50 premiere, and will return to play Biden for the rest of the season. The comedian confirmed as much during an episode of his podcast Fly on the Wall. He also told co-host and fellow SNL David Spade about the changes made to the Donald Trump impression.
James Austen Johnson now wears a fat suit to play Trump
Trump is still being played by current SNL cast member James Austin Johnson. The comedian has really nailed down the former President's voice and mannerisms, so bringing him back seemed like a no-brainer.

Kamala Harris’ vice presidential nominee will be virtually sitting down with the SmartLess podcast Monday, we hear.
Minnesota Gov. Walz, who is also appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, will hold a Zoom conversation with the popular podcast hosts, actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. The interview is set to air sometime in the next week or so, according to sources.

The season 50 premiere of "Saturday Night Live" left something to be desired. No blame should be placed on host Jean Smart, who did her best with a slate of rusty writers and cast members coming back to the high-pressure series after summer break. But we're happy to report that "SNL" is back on track with the second episode of the season, with comedian Nate Bargatze returning to host for a second time.
Nate Bargatze's dry, quiet sense of humor is unusual for "SNL," but the writers and cast have figured out how to use his fairly limited sketch comedy range rather magnificently. While Bargatze is often playing characters that are basically some version of himself, the roster of talent at "SNL" is able to craft hilarious sketches around him, whether that means using his unassuming nature for terrific wry comedy, relying on his awkwardness in moments of chaos or confusion around him,...

The movie “Running on Empty” explores what happens when a young man named Mortimer, played by Kier Gilchrist, learns he only has about one year left to live. As a mortician, Mort’s unusual job was to prepare deceased bodies for funerals. When a new medical discovery revealed each person’s exact death date, Mort was shocked to find out his time was almost up. How would he make the most of the limited days remaining?
Directed by Daniel Andre in his feature film debut, “Running on Empty” presented this unique premise as a romantic comedy with darker elements. The story follows Mort as he searches for connection and meaning after his long-time fiancée dumps him over their divergent life expectancies. Along the way, he encounters strange characters and bizarre situations through a dating app matching people by their time left.

Last night, Nate Bargatze made his Saturday Night Live return less than a year after his first hosting gig, a surprisingly quick turnaround that puts him on the all-time list for fastest reappearance. The show couldn’t resist repeating old wins last night — for better and for worse.

Saturday Night Live took to the debate stage on Saturday with Bowen Yang’s J.D. Vance and Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz.

‘SNL’ Cold Open Finds Maya Rudolph’s Harris Stressing Over VP Debate: ‘Why Are They Vibing?’ | Video
“SNL” took on the vice presidential debate in Sunday’s cold open, but it was still Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris who took center stage. The cold open was framed with Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff (played by Andy Samberg) watching the VP debate from home. After Samberg’s Emhoff described himself as a Grilf – “which means golden retriever I’d like to French” – Rudolph’s Harris confessed she was nervous about the debate.
The sketch then cut to the debate itself with Bowen Yang reprising his role as GOP running mate Jd Vance and Jim Gaffigan back as Tim Walz.
“I wanna begin with something that’ll appeal to women voters,” Yang’s Vance said. “I understand both moderators tonight are mothers and I like that.”
Cut to Gaffigan’s Walz, caught off guard – “I gotta grade these papers, got a stack of midterms,” he said in a fluster while holding papers.

Saturday Night Live brought back almost all of the 2024 election principals for its cold open tonight, in a spoof of this week’s vice presidential debate between Jd Vance (Bowen Yang) and Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan).
The riffs were on the most memorable moments from an otherwise inconsequential 90-minute debate, including when both candidates were asked by CBS News moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan about some of their contradictory past claims.
“Senator Vance, you called Donald Trump America’s Hitler. Do you regret that?”
As he did in the real debate, Yang’s Vance tried to explain it away. “The context matters. I meant that as a compliment,” he insisted.
Then it was on to Walz. “Governor Walz. You claimed you were in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre when you were home in Minnesota. Can you explain that?”
Gaffingan’s Walz answered, “I think what happened is I went to Epcot.

With Norah O’Donnell (Heidi Gardner) and Margaret Brennan (Chloe Fineman) moderating, Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan) and Jd Vance (Bowen Yang) take mild swipes at each other during the debate.
Vance spoke to his awkwardness, beginning his opening statement with, “I want to begin with something that will appeal to women voters: I understand both moderators tonight are mothers, and I like that.”
Meanwhile, Walz evoked his teaching past, saying at the podium, “I gotta grade these papers … I gotta stack of midterms.” He later evoked his biggest blunder of the evening, saying, “I’ve become friends with school shooters.”

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about SNL, Abbott Elementary, Chicago Fire, Days of Our Lives and more!
1 | How many General Hospital fans paused the TV to crunch the age math when Jason (who was a toddler when Finola Hughes first joined the ABC soap as an adult superspy) kissed Anna? And based on the debut of Aiden recast Colin Cassidy and the pre-debut pic of Van Hansis as a recast Lucas, are we to assume that the soap thinks all gay men rock the same hairdo?...

Brace yourself for dad jokes. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has set his late night debut. The Democratic vice presidential candidate will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live this coming Monday, Oct. 7.
Despite a whirlwind of campaign appearances since he was named Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate on Aug. 6, he hasn’t done too many TV sit-downs. Monday’s debate with Donald Trump running mate J.D. Vance was the most screen time he’s gotten by quite a bit. Now he’ll sit down with Kimmel in Hollywood for an appearance that’s sure to rely heavily on the candidate’s Midwestern affability.
It’ll be appearance No. 2 for Walz that night. On Tuesday, it was announced that Harris would have a sit-down on a special Oct. 7 outing of 60 Minutes — during a segment that will also feature her running mate. (Trump was also set to appear on the episode but backed out.

“I’ve immersed myself in the exhibits for hours each time I’ve explored the National Comedy Center in Jamestown,” said Bargatze in a statement. “It’s the only place that truly celebrates the essence of what we do. For an artist, it’s a tribute to this thing we work so hard at,...

Saturday Night Live kicked off its 50th season with a few special appearances, including Dana Carvey playing President Joe Biden in the cold open. Carvey, who took over for cast member Mikey Day, says he had to keep the cameo under wraps ahead of the premiere.
“It’s been top secret,” Carvey said on a new episode of his podcast, Fly on the Wall, which he hosts with David Spade. “I’ve kept it under wraps for weeks.”

There will be no October surprise on “Saturday Night Live.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Lorne Michaels confirmed that he had not reached out to presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to make appearances on the influential sketch comedy series before Election Day on Nov. 5, and does not plan to.
“You can’t bring the actual people who are running on because of election laws and the equal time provisions,” Michaels told THR. “You can’t have the main candidates without having all the candidates, and there are lots of minor candidates that are only on the ballot in, like, three states and that becomes really complicated.”
Of course, “SNL” has had candidates on before Election Day in the past, most notoriously when Donald Trump hosted in November 2015, before he became the Republican frontrunner in the 2016 election. At the time, NBC measured Trump’s time onscreen...
