Netflix has acquired the spec script and aims to fast track Out There, a new high concept sci-fi thriller described as in the vein of A Quiet Place and Cloverfield, Deadline reports today.
Out There will mark the veteran editor Stefan Grube.
Plot details remain under wraps at this time, but the sci-fi thriller “revolves around a fractured family who must face the most catastrophic day of their lives.” Which does fall in line with the comparisons to A Quiet Place and Cloverfield. Considering Grube’s work on the suspenseful 10 Cloverfield Lane, we can likely expect that same level of breathless tension here.
Grube’s credits also include Tully, The Front Runner, and Star Wars: Episode IX. As for the spec script that was picked up by Netflix, that hails from Shane Van Dyke, Carey Van Dyke and Ian Levy. The Van Dykes previously wrote Don’t Worry Darling, and Levy scripted Pay the Ghost.

Superman’s canine best friend will be joining him onscreen next year.
Krypto the Superdog will appear in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman,” the director confirmed on social media Tuesday. He made the announcement in honor of October being Adopt a Shelter Dog month.
“Krypto arrives on screens in Superman this summer,” Gunn wrote. “Krypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing Superman. Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least. He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture – he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him. I remember thinking, ‘Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?’ – and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life.

Sebastian Stan Worried He Would Be ‘Immediately Judged’ for ‘Gossip Girl’ During ‘I, Tonya’ Audition
Sebastian Stan didn’t want his “Gossip Girl” stint to make him to mainstream for the indie film world.
The actor told GQ UK that 12 years after first landing the part of Carter Baizen in the iconic original “Gossip Girl” series, he was fearful of being labeled as the “CW guy” when trying out for Neon’s 2017 Oscar winner “I, Tonya.” Stan was ultimately cast as Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly alongside Margot Robbie as the titular Olympian.
“I’m like, ‘I’m going to walk into that room and they’re going to see the taller guy, The CW guy.’ I felt like I was going to be immediately judged,” Stan admitted of the audition process for “I, Tonya.”
And even after landing the role, he was anxious about doing the tale justice.

As we head towards 2025, we’re getting closer and closer to the dawn of James Gunn’s all-new Dcu. The Suicide Squad filmmaker and producer Peter Safran are at the helm of the re-jigged DC Studios, going big with next summer’s Gunn-directed Superman, but technically launching this December with animated series Creature Commandos. And now, Gunn has announced another animated project for the Dcu slate – this one a big-screen release, titled Dynamic Duo. Make way for the story of Robin.
Or, as Gunn himself put it on social media, ‘Robins’. Because as its title suggests, there’ll be a pair of characters at play here – the film will focus on both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, who have each taken the Robin mantle under Batman at various points of continuity. Grayson was the original Robin, and later went on to assume the name Nightwing; Todd was the second Robin,...

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are developing “Dynamic Duos,” a theatrical animated film featuring Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, who have both taken up the mantle of Batman’s sidekick Robin.
DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn announced the project on his Instagram page, noting that it will be the first joint project between DC and WB Animation. Also onboard for the project is Swaybox, a New Orleans-based animation studio that combines CGI, stop-motion and live-action techniques.
Arthur Mintz, who co-founded Swaybox with his wife Theresa Andersson, will direct the project from a script by “Coco” co-writer Matthew Aldrich.
In DC Comics history, Jason Todd joined the “Batman” mythos as a new Robin to take the place of Dick Grayson, who had left Batman’s side to lead the Teen Titans. In this film, Dick and Jason will both be Robins, training to defend Gotham side-by-side alongside Batman.

Yesterday, the trades confirmed a recent rumor that The Old Guard actor Matthias Schoenaerts will play the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, but did you know that he almost suited-up as a much bigger DC Comics character back in the early days of the Dceu?
In a 2021 interview, director Zack Snyder revealed that Ben Affleck was having some reservations about taking on the role of the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the filmmaker had Schoenaerts lined up just in case the Daredevil actor decided to decline the offer.
"I was talking to (Matthias) a lot about it," said Snyder. "He never got in the suit, but I did do a bunch of mock-ups of him, because Ben was on the fence. And I don't blame him. Everyone should be on the fence when you're asked, 'Do you want to play Batman?...

Matthias Schoenaerts has landed the role of the antagonist in DC Studios’ upcoming Supergirl. More on the casting below.

House Of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock will play the titular hero, and Deadline now reports that Matthias Schoenaerts has been cast as the film’s villain. There’s no official word on who that villain might be, but the film’s script has been adapted from the Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow comic book in which Krem of the Yellow Hill is the main antagonist.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! And it ain't Superman, either. It's actually the latest casting announcement for Craig Gillespie's hotly anticipated new Supergirl movie. After having learned back in January that House Of The Dragon breakout star Milly Alcock is set to play DC's Maiden of Might in James Gunn's new-look DC Universe, and then getting word in April that none other than Cruella helmsman Craig Gillespie is being eyed to direct the project, now we know who Kara Zor-El will be facing in the new movie. As Deadline are reporting, Rust And Bone actor Matthias Schoenaerts has landed the lead villain role opposite Alcock's Supergirl.
There's no official confirmation as of yet which villain from DC's rogues' gallery Schoenaerts — who you may best recognise from his turns in the likes of Netflix's The Old Guard and Jennifer Lawrence spy thriller Red Sparrow — is set to play.

Warner Brothers and DC have cast acclaimed Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts in the role of Krem, the main villain in their upcoming Supergirl movie “Woman of Tomorrow.” Schoenaerts, known for intense roles in films like “Rust and Bone” and “The Old Guard,” will play the comic book character who triggers Kara Zor-El’s journey to become Supergirl.
According to sources close to the production, the film will be based on Tom King’s comic run of the same name. It will tell the story of Kara after the destruction of her home planet Krypton. In the movie, Krem is said to murder the father of a young alien girl. This prompts Supergirl to get involved in her first heroic conflict.
Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, “Woman of Tomorrow” aims to provide a grittier portrayal of Supergirl than past adaptations. The movie will show the differences between Kara and Superman’s origins.

Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts has nabbed the plum villain role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Craig Gillespie is directing for DC Studios.
House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock is toplining the superhero feature as Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman.
The feature is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic and will depart from the earnest take on the character audiences may know from the CW Supergirl series. Some photos of Milly Alcock in the crowd at the US Open have been shared online, and the House of the Dragon alum is sporting a very Supergirl-ish hairdo.
Alcock is naturally blonde, but her hair-style is lighter than usual here, and she definitely looks ready to take to the skies as the Dcu's Woman of Tomorrow in the photos below.
Alcock is believed to have filmed scenes for James Gunn's Superman, and is scheduled to begin shooting her solo movie early next year.

The “Creature Commandos” are on their way.
The adult animated series, the first from DC Studios, premieres on Thursday, Dec. 5 on Max. There will be one episode streamed weekly until Jan. 16, so this won’t be a binge drop.
According to the official logline, the series, written and executive produced by James Gunn, “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option.”
The series officially kicks off the new DC Universe, which will also include Gunn’s “Superman” feature and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” directed by Craig Gillespie, out on June 26, 2026. Gunn had previously directed “Suicide Squad” for Warner Bros. and DC before being offered the chance to run DC studios with his partner Peter Safran.

It is virtually unheard-of for top filmmakers and talent to get back to a journalist almost immediately without going through armies of publicists. Not so when it comes to talking about Neon founder and CEO Tom Quinn, the savvy and innovative indie executive whose company is enjoying its best year in history thanks to nurturing the under-35 cinephile crowd, as well as seeing yet another one of its films, Anora, win the prestigious 2024 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or for the fifth consecutive year, an unprecedented feat for a U.S. indie or studio distributor.

Though an official production start date for the second Dcu movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, was never announced, recent reports have indicated that cameras were expected to roll before the end of the year. However, it seems there's been a slight delay.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, filming is now scheduled to commence in the U.K. in January of next year.
House of the Dragon alum Milly Alcock is set to play the Girl of Steel, and is expected to make her debut in James Gunn's Superman. There are rumors that Jason Momoa might be on board as Lobo after leaving the role of Aquaman behind.
As previously noted, Woman of Tomorrow will be the next Dcu movie to release in theaters after Superman. Warner Bros. recently announced that our new Girl of Steel will take flight on June 26, 2026.

The series is based on the Frederick Forsyth novel and 1973 film adaptation from Universal Pictures. However, it has been reimagined as a contemporary story set amidst the current turbulent geo-political landscape and will delve deeper into the chameleon like ‘anti-hero’.
As previously announced, Redmayne plays The Jackal, an unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, and Lynch portrays Bianca, a tenacious MI6 agent in a relentless, global pursuit to catch him. We hear Kamara will play Lynch’s daughter Jasmine.
Top Boy creator and writer Ronan Bennett writes and serves as showrunner. Brian Kirk, who has directed episodes of Game of Thrones and Luther, will direct. It is produced by Universal International Studios’ Carnival Films, which is best known for producing Downton Abbey.

It's sounding increasingly likely that like the Main Man is set to make his Dcu debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
A recent rumor claimed that DC Studios was interested in bringing Jason Momoa in for an undisclosed role in the movie, leading to speculation that Lobo will make an appearance. Now, Mttsh is reporting that the Last Czarnian will indeed have a part to play in the project.
While all of this does seem to point to Momoa suiting-up as Lobo in Woman of Tomorrow, it's worth keeping in mind that we still don't have official confirmation that this is the character the Aquaman star was referring to when he indicated that he was planning to leave the King of Atlantis behind and make the jump to the Dcu - although several trade reports have suggested that this was the case.

A new Supergirl will soon be taking to the skies, but before she does, the previous incarnation of the character has a few words of advice for her successor. Melissa Benoist played the character from 2016 to 2021 on The CW’s Supergirl series, but Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) will be taking on the role in the new DC Universe.
Melissa Benoist recently sat down with Perri Nemiroff for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. As the character is truly iconic, Benoist was asked how she dealt with that pressure while also trying to deliver her best performance. She also dropped a little advice for any future Supergirls.

The DC Extended Universe delivered the odd hit, but for the most part, it's likely to be remembered as a failure. That was evident from most of 2023's offerings and the news of a Dcu reboot from the newly formed DC Studios was welcomed by most fans.
There are lots of reasons to be excited about what's to come, especially with Superman on the horizon. Unlike their predecessors, James Gunn and Peter Safran appear to have a plan and they've already attracted some A-List talent to the overhauled franchise.
That doesn't mean they haven't already made a few mistakes, of course. Even Marvel Studios went through growing pains and, before even a single movie or TV show has launched, we have some concerns about DC Studios' plans for these characters.
We're hoping to be proved wrong, but you can find the Dcu's biggest mistakes by hitting the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

Life’s a (permanent) beach for Pedro Pascal in a new Corona commercial titled “La Vida Más Fina (The Finest Life),” a play on the beer’s tagline “La Cerveza Más Fina.”
“I, Tonya” filmmaker Craig Gillespie directs the outrageous short film that captures Pascal wandering through bars, restaurants, and town centers as sand, flora, and fauna beckon him back to the beach. It’s very much a fantasy sequence considering the busy actor has no actual time to vacation.
Pascal will appear in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II,” Ari Aster’s “Eddington,” and soon make his Marvel debut in the new “Fantastic Four.” Plus, he’s back for “The Last of Us” Season 2 — find a first look here. Oh, and did we mention that Pascal also is teaming up with Dakota Johnson for Celine Song’s romance drama “Materialists”?

Of all the various actors who've made their mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan might be the one who's chosen the most interesting career path upon stepping outside of the superhero limelight. Stan hasn't exactly shied away from some of the more challenging and, occasionally, downright controversial roles out there, arguably beginning this little streak of sorts with director Craig Gillespie's "I, Tonya" in 2017. He followed this up with a supporting turn in Karyn Kusama's brutal "Destroyer," the bizarre horror/comedy "Fresh" (let's just say that movie packs a bite), and, of course, his Emmy-nominated performance as Tommy Lee in "Pam & Tommy," the Pamela Anderson-centric Hulu miniseries that stirred up no headlines whatsoever.
Not content to rest on his laurels, Stan promptly went and attached himself to a role that likely gave his agent no shortage of heart palpitations: a movie about Donald Trump's rise to infamy.

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Films may currently be in production on the first of the studio’s rebooted and reimagined superhero franchise pictures, but that doesn’t mean executives can’t make announcements about the second one.
“Supergirl: World of Tomorrow” will hit theaters (and IMAX) on June 26, 2026, as per reports. Kara Zor-El, by the way, should not be confused with Kara Zor-l, also known as Karen Starr, also known as Power Girl, who is also Superman’s cousin, but, like, from a different universe. As expected, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second Dcu movie to release in theaters after James Gunn's Superman. Warner Bros. has just announced that our new Girl of Steel will take flight on June 26, 2026.
The studio also announced dates for New Line’s Mortal Kombat 2, which will hit theaters on October 24, 2025, and Barbarian director Zach Creggar's second feature, Weapons, which will arrive on January 16, 2026.
Craig Gillespie is set to direct Woman of Tomorrow, which will star Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the title role.
This take on Kara Zor-El a said to be a "less earnest and more edgy version of the iconic superheroine" as Gunn looks to move away from "previous depictions of the Girl of Steel, particularly the long-running CBS/CW series fronted by Melissa Benoist."
