Nathan Lane has a prop knife, and he’s not afraid to use it! The actor plays an uptight opera lover in the Season 2 premiere of Elsbeth, airing October 17 on CBS, and TV Insider is debuting a comedically tense scene featuring Lane and Carrie Preston in the episode. In it, Lane’s Phillip Cross pretends to be threatening with the retractable knife while he tries to prove he’s not involved in the murder being investigated. Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 1 is titled “Subscription to Murder.” In it, a womanizing finance executive is found stabbed to death after a night at the opera, and Elsbeth (Preston) suspects an obsessed opera lover (Lane) was driven to murder because of a ringing cell phone. Elsewhere in the episode, Elsbeth, Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce), and Kaya (Carra Patterson) must adjust to changes in the precinct as the consequences of Noonan’s (Fredric Lehne) Season 1 wrongdoing continue to loom.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 9 “Sweet Justice.”] Revenge may be sweet, but justice? It’s even sweeter and more satisfying. The penultimate episode of the season-long investigation into corruption—Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) was sent to New York to keep an eye on Wagner (Wendell Pierce)—ends with a major arrest. In November of 1993, writer/director John Lafia (Child’s Play 2) unleashed Cujo Cocaine Bear (great punk band name) upon the world with Man’s Best Friend. In the movie, a Tibetan Mastiff named Max 3000 is released from a genetic research facility by a reporter named Lori (Breakfast Club’s Ally Sheedy) while trying to expose a company for their cruel experiments on animals. We eventually learn that while Max might look like the best boy ever, he has a lot more in common with Wesley Snipes’ Simon Phoenix character from Demolition Man than he does Lassie.

For example, if threatened he can camouflage himself with the colors of your garage and hide there like a chameleon before deciding to pop out and bite your dick off. He has super strength,...

“Dexter: New Blood” staged a reunion (of sorts) in the December 5 episode when Dexter’s new girlfriend, Iron Lake Chief of Police Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), met his old coworker, Miami Metro Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas). The last time viewers saw Batista was in the 2013 series finale, when Dexter (Michael C. Hall) drove his boat into a hurricane and made everyone believe he and his son Harrison had died. Zayas now reveals he had “mixed feelings” about that controversial ending, telling EW, “I felt it might’ve been a little underwhelming.”

The first trailer for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” has arrived, and no, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That’s really Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield, looking entirely transformed into Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, respectively.
The biopic, inspired by the documentary of the same name, will tell the story of the infamous couple that hosted the television program “The Ptl Club” and developed Heritage USA, a now-defunct Christian theme park in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Jim Bakker later was indicted, convicted and imprisoned on numerous counts of fraud and conspiracy. The couple divorced, and Tammy Faye married Roe Messner. She was then diagnosed with colon cancer in 1996 and died of the disease in 2007.

Jessica Chastain is physically transformed in the official trailer for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” the latest directorial effort from “The Big Sick” filmmaker Michael Showalter. Chastain stars in the Searchlight Pictures-backed drama opposite Andrew Garfield, Cherry Jones, Fredric Lehne, Louis Cancelmi, Sam Jaeger, Gabriel Olds, Mark Wystrach, and Vincent D’Onofrio. With its September release date, expect “Tammy Faye” to turn up at a fall festival like TIFF and possibly factor into the upcoming awards season. Searchlight is coming off a Best Picture win for “Nomadland.”
The official synopsis for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” from Searchlight Pictures reads: “[The film] is an intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall, and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In the 1970s and ’80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker (Garfield), rose from humble beginnings to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park, and were revered for their message of love,...

Searchlight Pictures has updated its 2021 release calendar, dating Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” for December 3. The date puts del Toro’s latest in the thick of the 2021-2022 awards season. Searchlight appears to be following the same release plan it gave del Toro’s last movie, “The Shape of Water,” which started its U.S. theatrical rollout on the first weekend of December. “The Shape of Water” debuted at the Venice Film Festival, winning the Golden Lion, and it seems likely “Nightmare Alley” will show up on the fall film festival circuit.
Del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” is adapted by the filmmaker, and film critic Kim Morgan, from the 1946 William Lindsay Gresham novel of the same name. The ensemble cast includes Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, Rooney Mara, and David Strathairn. Searchlight Pictures, ever the believer in theatrical, has dated four releases for 2021.
Their Sundance horror pickup The Night House will turn its lights on July 16. The David Bruckner directed titles which Searchlight shelled out a reported $12M for last January follows a widow (Rebecca Hall) who begins to uncover her recently deceased husband’s disturbing secrets.
Their Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker televangelist biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye will debut on Sept. 24. The pic, directed by Michael Showalter and written by Abe Sylvia, takes an intimate look at the rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In the 1970s and ’80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker, rose from humble beginnings to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park, and were revered for their message of love, acceptance and prosperity. However, it wasn’t long before financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and scandal toppled their carefully constructed empire.

Boy howdy, there sure are a lot of Amityville flicks, aren’t there? I don’t know what kind of sadistic contest they’re in with the Witchcraft series, but I’m assuming regardless of the outcome, we the viewer loses. To each their own (I’ve never even seen the Witchcraft films), but I think it’s safe to say at this point in time that the word “Amityville” has lost all meaning far beyond its original IP. But there was a time, long ago when I had more hair and less belly, that the original Amityville series was an ongoing concern.
The ’79 original was a massive hit in theatres, the allegedly true book it was based on was still selling like hotcakes, the ’82 sequel scrapped mostly everything for Italian based lunacy (which was a blessing because it is easily the best one), and ‘83s 3D romp was laughable,...

Have you ever watched a movie about a psychotic, genetically modified dog and found yourself wondering if it was in fact made by a psychotic, genetically modified dog? Such was the case for me while watching the new Scream Factory release of John Lafia’s 1993 killer canine flick Man’s Best Friend. Now, recently I’ve developed an affinity for the bonkers horror that came out of the early to mid ’90s. I can appreciate a movie that takes a crazy premise and commits to it. The problem with Man’s Best Friend is that it doesn’t quite know what it’s committing to.

Nicolas Cage! *The Internet cheers*. Alright, now we have that over and done with, let’s get down to the review…
In the aftermath of the Bp oil spill, an idealistic but imperfect New Orleans politician (Nicolas Cage) finds his plans of restoration unravelling as his own life becomes contaminated with corruption, scandal and deceit.
I am going to leap right into the meat of it here and say that The Runner is not a happy film. If you’re one of those people who like a happy ending and for everything to be wrapped up at least a little bit by the end, you definitely shouldn’t go for this film. It has quite a dark and depressing finish.

Jokers, circus masters and demonic dolls. Which TV characters terrify you? Den Of Geek asked its writers that very question…
The subconscious is a terrible place; dark, mysterious and peopled by spectres from the past. As a bit of a laugh then, we sent our writers journeying into theirs and asked them to drag out any TV terrors they found lurking in the shadows.
Some television fears had been ensconced there since childhood, others were more recent tenants. Some were morally terrifying; human beings with icy hearts capable of atrocities, others were simply… atrocities.
Join us as we count down in order of terror from the sort-of-creepy to the downright terrifying, the 50 TV characters that, for whatever reason, give our writers chills. It’s by no means an exhaustive list, so feel free to fill in gaps by adding your own peculiar television nightmares below…

The Runner Trailer. Austin Stark‘s The Runner (2015) movie trailer stars Nicolas Cage, Connie Nielsen, Sarah Paulson, Peter Fonda, and Wendell Pierce. The Runner‘s plot synopsis: “‘The Runner’ follows an idealistic but flawed politician (Cage), who, in the aftermath of the 2010 British Petroleum oil spill, is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal.”
The runner looks like Nicolas Cage returning to form is a good drama. Over the last three years, he has made many films of dubious quality. This film looks and feels looks to be the complete opposite of those films.

Holiday episodes are usually a great chance for TV shows to go all warm and fuzzy, but not "American Horror Story: Asylum." Unless you consider a killer Santa Claus, an evil nun and a duplicitous Nazi great examples of Christmas cheer.
Throw in the alien abduction of a corpse and a serial killer's surviving victim vowing to "bury" him and you've got one endlessly twisted hour of TV. The really sick thing: most of it was a lot of fun.
At least it was once we got past that overly appalling opening sequence. Ian McShane's guest turn as one of Briarcliff's permanently locked-away psychopaths was truly inspired, but the early scenes of his criminal past -- conversing with a little girl in his Santa outfit, tying up her parents and psychologically torturing then murdering them -- represented one of those unfortunate times when "Ahs" confuses grisly true crime scenarios for genuinely chilling horror.

Dean (Jensen Ackles) wakes next to Lisa (Cindy Sampson) as we get a series of scenarios involving Dean as his life used to be and what he does now, so much of it is pretty much the same, aside from the hunting element - such as salting food, whereas before he would salt whilst hunting, tools in his car and tools used for his job, contrasting his job as hunter and now as a family man, sharing beers with Sam (Jared Padalecki) in the past and now with a neighbour, working on the car with Sam and now with Ben (Nicholas Elia). Dean checks the house with rosary in hand and water and keeps a gun under the bed. Dean has a drink with Sid (Russel Porter). It's been a year without Sam. Dean "lived on the road" and had a job in pest control. Dean is almost respectable now.
