Too bad one is as low as it goes. They tout their download speeds of 15mb plus. What they don't tell you is that their latency is soooo bad 650ms+ that you can't stay connected to many sites. Mainly secure sites. The long latency makes the service unusable for many purposes. When you call tech support they have you do useless tasks like go to purple.com or use their speed test tool. Completely misleading. This is in an effort to get you beyond the trial period so that they can charge you 400.00 to cancel. I Finally called them to cancel and had them send me a return kit. Wait for it...it gets even better. HughesNet requires you to return what they call the radio, which is attached to the Dish on the roof. They charge extra if you don't crawl on the roof and retrieve the radio. Funny they left that part out during the sales cycle.

Buyer Beware. Just because the company has the name Hughes in it does not make them credible. In my opinion they use deceptive sales and business practices to lure and maintain their customers. We are using ATT mobile broadband for now (expensive $700/month, but it works). Fortunately I can afford HughNet's cancellation fee. Unfortunately for HughesNet I can also afford attorneys. I plan to see if we can certify a "class".

I see them stringing cable on the poles down the road. Pretty bad when you get excited about giving the cable company your money.

Assisted my 78-year-old father with the cancellation of his service due to the product's inability to support the most basic of internet needs properly. My father has a hard time hearing on the telephone, so I spoke with the call center agent located outside of the U.S. As a condition of the return, the agent instructed that my father would need to climb onto his roof and remove the transmitter from the satellite for return. When I explained this was not possible due to his age and ability, the option given to him was to either pay $200 to purchase the part which he would have no use of, or pay $100 to have a technician come and do it. I asked if the fee could be waived in this instance, but was told, after the agent supposedly spoke to a supervisor, that it was not. My request to speak with the supervisor directly was denied. The bottom line is that it's not a great product and customer service agents are there only to serve the company, not customers. I wonder at the potential liability for Hughesnet if my father falls off the roof trying to fulfill their request?

I needed internet and Hughes Net was my only option. payed the deposit and the tech came out and set it up. They do not accept cash app debit card so I found an alternative and borrowed a card from a frien. I was told the next payment was the next month. 24 hours after install my frienda card got hit with another charge. when I called I was informed the deposit was an estimate and can change. the guy said it's normal to add tax. I was so mad! I also told him to refund the card and remove it. he said he can not remove it because of autopay. I informed him I do not want autopay and random charges like this is why! he said we are saving you $6 a month so we will leave it. it's like talking to the wall! avoid this company if you can!

I ordered their service and they installed it on Wednesday. It's the Monday after and I'm on the verge of a mental break down. WORSE PEOPLE EVER!!!

When the installer showed up they said they couldn't install the equipment on a 1 story roof. When explained we live in the trees and that we told the people when we called to set up the service the same thing - we won't be able to get good service from the ground. He went ahead and installed it and told us to call back in to have another tech come out. We had another tech coming out on Saturday so we waited for them to show. When the new tech showed on Saturday they told us that yes it was a poor placement. They were unable to fix it at that time because they were only out to install tv. When we asked what to do we were told to call it in. So as the tech installing our tv worked on that I called in. That's when Hughesnet said that they had never heard of not being able to install on a 1 story roof and that unfortunately I would have to call back Monday to have a tech come re evaluate the placement. They said I had up to 7 days after install to have a tech out for free.

Today is Monday and my husband spent over 5+ hours on the phone with Hughesnet. Yes let me repeat that - OVER 5 HOURS ON THE PHONE. And still wasn't able to get a solution. At one point he was speaking to someone that had a note on our account that services were to be terminated - which we never did or said such a thing. I have now spent over 2 hours on the phone only for them to tell me - "we can send a tech but it will be a charge to you" "we will cancel but will be $8** (not sure the exact amount) early termination fee". Are you kidding me. I haven't even had your service a week and can't even get google to open up because the service is so bad. And you want to charge me because your original tech was lazy.

Been looking to see where to write a review but Yelp is the only place I can find. I'm actively looking for a lawyer to go after Hughesnet. And at this point I will spend the money for the lawyer for this mess. It's the point that you have treated me so poorly that I'm not going to eat this. I can't even start to comprehend how you think your going to charge me for your techs mess up on top of you wanted to cancel my service and think I'm going to eat that cost.

ABSOLUTE WORSE COMPANY EVER!!! I WOULDNT USE THEM IF THEY WERE THE LAST PEOPLE ON EARTH. Horrible horrible horrible people. I only have them 1 star because I had to give them something.

You can see for yourself in the picture where my equipment is located and they feel is good - far from it!! I included where the Dish tech placed theirs because the service is better.

The ABSOLUTE WORSE service I have ever had and the customer service is even more atrocious! On hold 9 different times for over 45 minutes and still could not resolve the issue. Save yourself the frustration.

I just spoke with a representative to check on the availability for internet service in my area. The call was going well until I asked if it was satellite service. I told him I did not want satellite and I'd wait for wireless to come to my area. He tried to tell me that HughesNet was my ONLY option and asked me, "so you want to wait 5-10 years for internet?" Lol I replied, "why would I wait 5-10 years for internet?" He started to give me a ridiculous false answer and I immediately told him I've already spoken to a Comcast Representative and they told me they're running their fiber optic lines in my area and we'd have service end of April beginning of May. And that I was just looking for quick service in the meantime and didn't want a contract. And as I was asking him about the contract, HE HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME! How professional are you!

Then when all was said and done I personally had to go onto my roof to remove a piece from the Satellite per HughesNet or they would charge an additional $300 would be charged!!!!????!!!!

Absolutely worst internet service ever. Buffer buffer buffer. Can't get through a single program. I can't believe they charge $70 per month for a complete garbage service. I'm barely able to write this review because it keeps interrupting. I wish I could rate it less. Unprofessional, unreliable. Complete trash. I will tell everyone I encounter to avoid it at all costs.

Going WAY out of my way to send a message out to the world that HUGHESNET IS THE WORST POSSIBLE INTERNET PROVIDER.

      Cannot overstate this.

This message is an attempt of saving at least one person from signing up with hughesnet.... simply don't do it.
Find another way to get internet. No matter what your situation.

We live in the country -and work from home- so internet is clearly very important to us and our quality of life. With that being said, i'd still rather have NO internet, than have the service we do now.

HUGHESNET IS THE WORST POSSIBLE INTERNET PROVIDER.

Don't do it. You will undoubtedly be disappointed.
