Investigation of Vehicle Parameters Effect on Fuel Consumption Using TAGUCHI Method

Published: 27 July 2012 Publication History

Abstract

Engines nowadays are more important because of their emission. An engine with less consumption is considered widely. In this paper, efficiency of fuel consumption for an internal combustion using Taguchi quality engineering method (TQEM) is described. Fuel consumption is obtained by simulating the dynamics model that shows the effect of the vehicle dynamics parameter on fuel consumption. Optimal parameter combinations are determined using Taguchi experimental design method with at least 90% confidence level. The level of importance of the parameters on the fuel efficiency is determined using the analysis of signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio.
