From Malay salju (Standard Malay salji), from Classical Malay ثلجي (salju), ثلجي (salji), from Arabic ثَلْج (ṯalj).[1] Cognate of Javanese ꦱꦭ꧀ꦗꦸ (salju) and Sundanese ᮞᮜ᮪ᮏᮥ (salju).
